In front of the screen are parishioners who want to go to confession. A few neat old ladies in headscarves, an old man, a young lady in rich clothes, waiting with an aristocratic sense of dignity. And the children are a little worried, huddle up to adults, listen to the last instructions – perhaps for some of them this is the first confession, and they painfully go over their actions. Expectation rings in the air, the rest of the temple is hidden in semi–darkness - people are moving there too, but you can't see them so well and understand what they are doing. The abundance of details, facial expressions makes the picture alive.
